“Writing is the only thing that when I do it, I don’t feel like I should be doing something else.”
I write in order to understand. My essays, plays and short stories are filled with the absurdities we all face. You will find my many musings on life, love, death, taxes and everything in between. I strive to find the hidden joy, hilarity, and hope in the events which could have buried me if I had chosen instead to leave them unexamined.
I like to use my different blogs as a workshop space. I think of them as slowly simmering stews. Through regular posts, my thoughts and feelings on a specific topic can begin to develop and mature over time. Eventually reveal themselves to be a fuller richer story. I’ve successfully taken “See Jane Give Up Dick” from its blog beginnings to a fully produced one act play, which enjoyed sold out performances at New York’s International Fringe Festival last summer.
I believe everyone has a story to tell. These are mine. No single story is more or less important than the next. Each acts as a window into our mutual humanity. The more we share our personal sagas with one another, the sooner we will understand this life is a collective experience. None of us ever needs to feel alone in our efforts. Let’s choose to explore this life together. We’ve only got one, after all. Let’s make some sort of sense of it, one tale at a time.
